Brambach Piano

Serial number #82925 indicates it was made about 1929, just prior to the company's purchase by Kohler and Campbell.  Founded in 1823, Brambachs became popular in the Great Depression as a small sized, affordably priced piano.  This one is the smallest size baby grand (4'8") made by Brambach; it measures 56" long and 55" wide, approximately.  Case was refinished in the mid-1980's and is in great shape, a very pretty warm, medium walnut shape, although brand name decals were removed when the case was refinished.

Brambach was a favorite of John Lennon, whose baby grand Brambach sold a few years ago for $300,000.  (Waay more than it was worth as an instrument!)

This piano comes with a flip-top bench, probably original and refinished to the same pretty warm walnut shade.  Inside the bench you can store sheet music.

The piano needs tuning.  When it's tuned, the tone is bright and mellow. Brambach patented a system that produced "rich and mellow tone" that was surprisingly loud for the size of the instrument, more like one would expect from a full size grand.  The case is in terrific condition due to the restoration, but eleven keys are now missing the ivories, and two keys stick.  The ivories can be replaced (probably with plastic overlays now, as ivory is illegal -- unless you can find pre-ban ivories that match).  The rest of the keys remain cream colored and are not age-yellowed.  The piano has been played only sporadically since the 1970's.  It is a visually appealing, hopefully affordable instrument for a family with budding pianists.

Asking price $550 OBO.
