The
Greater Bridgeport Youth Orchestras (GBYO) in Fairfield County,
Connecticut is seeking applicants for its executive director role
beginning in the 2013-2014 season. (July 2013) In partnership with the
Music Director, the Executive Director assumes responsibility for the
management of human and financial resources needed to achieve the GBYO’s
mission. The Executive Director is accountable for all administrative
aspects of the organization, for supporting the vision of the Music
Director and for implementing policies set forth by the Board of
Directors. As the public face of the organization, the Executive Director
is responsible for presenting positive images to young musicians, parents,
donors, and members of the community regarding programs and the GBYO’s
role in enhancing the music education of its members. The multi-faceted
responsibilities call for demonstrated leadership skills, and the ability
to collaborate with artistic and administrative staff, the board and
community members.
Current membership includes
approximately 250 young musicians in grades 5-12 from over 20 communities
in Fairfield and New Haven counties, who are selected and seated by
competitive audition.
GBYO includes four developmentally sequential orchestras and a wind
ensemble, supported by an enthusiastic parent group and Board of
Directors. This role is a part-time position averaging 20 hours/week.
